Odd and ends and a Contest.

David and the boys went to MA with the boyscouts this weekend, yesterday I dropped them off at the school (they are taking a bus there) and had the rest of the day to myself. I came home made a large cup of Adagio tea and read my email and bloglines. At 12:00 I had an appointment with the eye doctor - I picked out these (I think) very cool new glasses (David with think they are dorky) went to my favorite Mexican place for lunch, drove to Smiley's to pick up a circular needle - they are now carrying woolease sport - bought 1 in blue mist to make another shawl and stopped for coffee at the Colombian bakery down the street - best coffee around! Spent the rest of the afternoon organizing stash. Last night I finally started on Mariah again:Image hosted by Photobucket.com I am almost to the first increase row - I really love the color of this yarn!

I am still trying to visualize how this: Image hosted by Photobucket.com will end up looking like this: Image hosted by Photobucket.com

This is a really pretty bag I picked up cheap at a store that was closing: Image hosted by Photobucket.com It is my current favorite knitting bag.

Finally the contest. This is the yarn I used for my FBS: Image hosted by Photobucket.com the smaller ball is what I had left from the ball I used - the larger is the 2nd skein that I did not need. I want to hold a contest to give this yarn away. The larger ball is a little over 400 yards. It is lovely lace wt yarn I picked up on ebay, 85% wool 15% nylon hand dyed. If you would like to win - leave me a comment with your favorite lace or cable pattern. I will put all the names in a hat and have one of the boys pick one next weekend. The lucky winner will get both balls of yarn.

Now I am off to get ready for brunch with my best friend - manicures, gossip and food - a perfect day!

Yea! I love a contest. BTW, I also love that poncho ... I think it'll look great. My favorite lace pattern of all time has been the "Leaf Cravate" by Teva Durham in the Fall IWK 2003 (I believe that's the issue) --takes around 200 yards of worsted weight yarn and makes the most dainty little scarf. This was my first time reading a chart pattern, so perhaps that alone made it more fun for me. Jenifer http://knittingat5337.blogdrive.com

A contest!
I loved the flower basket shawla s it was a realy easy knit. Hoever, my al time favourite is still the feather and fan stitch pattern (also known as "old shale"). It's an easy to remember 4- rw repeat pattern.

Your FBS is gorgeous I am new to lace and I have been wanting to make this shawl but I am a little afraid it might be too much to start with. Maybe I will take the leap it is my personal fav from what I have seen.

I have two favorite patterns for shawls, the Seraphina (which works up beautifully) and also the Lion Brand Glitterspun Shawl that I purchased from their website. It is really pretty for dressy events.

Oh wow! Loverly yarn! Lovely FBS, too, it was a cool Knit along (I was part of it, too).
I can't really narrow it down..But a cabled pattern that I'm totally obsessed with (apart from Rogue) is from issue 27 of Rebecca : click. The blue one. But it's much cuter in real life, when you can see the bigger picture. Nice deep-ish neck, big collar, suitabel ribs..I just love it! Adn i've got hat issue, if you're really interested.
Lace pattern..Either the FBS or Kiri.
I hope you find something nice to knit!

Cool contest...

My favourite pattern right now is a little bit of cable, a little bit of lace. It's zig zag from the last issue of knitty (although it seems to be taking me FOREVER)
