Oh Canada

Just checking in before we leave - by this time tomorrow we will be in Montreal. I am bringing my laptop and David's digital camera, so I hope to post some great pictures while I am away.

The MontreShawl is coming along nicely - I will post pictures soon. I am using a pattern from VLT and the silk yarn I purchased from HipKits. It is very crisp - at Communitea on Tuesday I kept calling it crunchy. It looks kinda like a fishing net, I am hoping blocking will do it's magic and I will have a lovely shawl when it is done.

Next post from across the border.....

This Jetset Life is Gonna Kill (me)

Long time no write.

No I did not fall off the face of the earth - just got sidetracked by a large project at work.

I am now back into my usual routine. I played Scrabble with Carolyn on Sunday, I got to go to my SnB yesteday, the Rangers tied the series. Life is Good again.

My big work project involved a vendor show at our Regional Meeting in Foxwood's last week and it went well - my boss was pleased. While there I actually won about $200 in the Casino and got to see Skid Row in a free concert - a good time!

I have put all my heavy sweater WIP's away for the Spring and started on Melissa's Sapphire Wrap sweater (you can see it here ) in Elann's Peruvian Highland Silk color Mesa Teal. It really is a pretty pattern. I have about 5" of the back down. Hopefully I will actually finish this sweater - unlike that pile of WIP's I just hid from site.

I am taking a weeks Vacation starting May 12 - David and I are driving up to Montreal for a couple of day - anyone recommend a good LYS there?

Later......

This ringing in my ears won't stop, I have a red japanese tea point

I have a pen, but I lost the top - I have so many things that you haven't got

But I can't show you them because of my damn, broken camera. I did, however, steal David's for a quick update of what I have been doing since January.

These are all from our short getaway to DC after the Valentine Day storm:

The Rowan yarn I bought at Knit Happens in Alexandria and the pattern from IK that I think I am going to use it for.

I can't find the bag with the curved shawl from VLT but that too is still a WIP.

You gotta learn to live and live and learn

You gotta learn to give and wait your turn

It has been brought to my attention that I have been woefully remiss in my blogging. I do apologize to anyone who has been checking to see if I have posted anything new, my only excuse is that my camera broke and I hate posting without pictures.

Also, I have not finished any of my knitting projects so have not had anything craft related to post. Work has been crazy, I got to spend an extra day in FLA last month when DELTA (doesn't ever leave the airport) canceled my flight home Valentines Day. David was great, we took romantic weekend in Washington, DC when I got back. That was fun.

I am still only about 20% finished with my Grannie Smith, I have 2 sleeves and the finishing on Sesame, I haven't picked up the red lace shawl from VLT in weeks, and there are about 100 things I want to start but refuse till I finish one of the projects currently on my needles.

I plan on borrowing David's camera and posting some pictures soon - I just have to stop procrastinating!

One burbon, one scotch and one beer......

Stole this off Knit Freaks Blog:

Your Personality Is Like Alcohol
You're the life of the party, a total flirt, and probably a pretty big jokester.Sometimes your behavior gets you in trouble, but you still remain socially acceptable. You're a pretty bad driver, and you're dancing could also use a little work!

Must say this sounds like me - though I think I am a good dance, I don't care what anyone says!

Girlfriends...

I received an email today from BedandBreakfast.com - they had an article on Girlfriend weekend trips and I saw this and thought - how cool - I want to go!

We be jazzin' and shopping' at Avenue Inn B&B, New Orleans, LA: This innkeeper says leave the boys home as "we be jazzin' with shoppin' and chattin' and chattin' and shoppin'. The girlfriends' getaways feature two nights' accommodations in rooms with two double beds, continental breakfast in the formal dining room or on the veranda, plus massage, manicure, pedicure, and light lunch at Bodyjoys Day Spa and Salon (includes tax). From there, spend the day shopping at Riverwalk Marketplace complete with coupon books plus two hours of antique shopping on Magazine Street with Bebe, the innkeeper and all-pro bargain hunter. Top off the experience with the Southern Comfort Cocktail Tour and streetcar passes for unlimited riding to the French Quarter. This package, offered through September 2007 costs $299 per person, double occupancy.

So anybody up for a trip to New Orleans?

6 strange things - though not before breakfast

My friend Maritza tagged my for this meme and I have been wracking my brain to come up with something to write. While most people who know me think I am odd, personally I don't find anything really strange about me at all. So here goes 6 (not so) strange (to me) things:

1. I notice peoples hands first and if they have long, slim fingers it freaks me out. It just gives me the heebee geebee's. I knew a guy in college that had these freakishly long fingers - I swore he was going to become a serial killer. He may have for all I know - I stayed far away from him back then!

2. I tell my self bed time stories. When I can't sleep I make up stories about the Sidhe, and Elves and Wizards and entertain myself till I fall asleep - unfortunately I never remember them in the morning - I think they are really good stories too.

3. I will change the route I travel randomly - never go the same way somewhere - you never know who is watching.

4. I have had the same reoccurring dream since childhood - I am lost in the Museum of Natural History - I wonder endlessly through the exhibits - the old exhibits, the whale is still hanging from the ceiling - never finding my way out or knowing how I got in there.

5. I have absolutely no sense of direction - I can get lost driving home. The last time I was in Chicago for training - I got lost every.single.day. going from the class room back to the shuttle bus. Hopeless.

6. I have no luck at games of chance - I will lose every time - in record time - that's why I don't gamble. If I had the only ticket in a lottery - it would still lose! Yet I consider myself a very lucky person.

Well that's it - that is all I can come up with. I leave it open to anyone who would like to steal it from me. And if you can think of something I might have missed - let me know - self examination is good for me.

If I had a photograph of you, or something to remind me...

It has been so long since I posted I have lots of photos to show you, and since I have nothing terribly interesting to say, I will just show:

December 29 I took the boys into the City to see the Tree, we had brunch at Cafe Henri in LIC then took the train to Manhattan.

we get back up and stand among the crowds

I'm back.

I know it has been weeks since I last posted, but believe me, it's not cause I didn't want to - I have just been very busy with work. I have only been in my office 3 1/2 days since Jan 2. Meetings and training.

Last week's meeting was at Foxwood's - so that was good! More about that later.

Christmas was fun though now it seems a thousdand years ago. My vacation was good, but I didn't get any knitting down.

I started a new sweater, a variation of Sesame by Melissa Wherle and did very little on any of my other projects.

It's good to be home!

Have yourself a merry little Christmas...

Christmas came a little early at our house this year. We celebrate on the closest weekend that we have the boys, so this year Christmas fell on the 22nd. Friday night we drove to Brooklyn to pick up Rob & Jeff then went Christmas tree shopping. This is what we came home with:

A lovely little tree. After a little time and effort, she looked like this:

Then finally:

Not too bad for a last minute effort.

As you can see - we have not repainted yet, but I think this will be my last year for a mauve and aqua tree. Either way, I wanted to show you a close up of some of my favorite ornaments.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Musical instruments I bought in CVS one year - I don't know why, but I love these. There is this one, a violin and a drum.
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting These are all crocheted ornaments - I wish I could say I made them, but I did not. I would really like to try to make some of these for next year though, might be a good, hot weather summer project.

This is a lovely bouquet I received from my boss I love the berries and the vase.

This is what I received from David and the boys - the pasta attachment for my Kitchenaid mixer and rice cooker/steamer. I can't wait to try them both out. I am on vacation the rest of the year, so I will have ample time to try them out.

For those of you still waiting to celebrate - Happy Holidays! Hope Santa treats you all well this year!
