some strange music draws me in makes me come on like some heroin/e

No update pictures today - I can't seem to devote enough time to one project long enough to show any progress - that of course did not stop me from adding to my overflowing stash of yarn and patterns. After meeting with the new account manager, I walked over to Purl and spent the last of my Amex gift check and the money I earned doing a massage treatment last week.

Behold the fruits of my labors:
Photobucket - Video and Image Hostingthe KSH for my likker'd up granny cardigan - I am having a really hard time not spending all day fondling this yarn - it is addictive, my preciousssss.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting I also picked up 2 patterns the Rockstar Cardigan from Alchemy and a silk alpaca babushka from macandme that I think will look beautiful in the Brooks Farm yarn I picked up at Rhinebeck last year, and 2 skeins lorna's laces for a neck wrap.

I have made a deal with myself that as soon as I finish the black stole for my co-worker, I can start swatching the KSH, that should motivate me to finish the stole quickly

Summertime, time, time, Child, the living’s easy.

This was a wonderful weekend, the best I've has in a long time - Friday I got some girlfriend time with my best bud, Saturday I spent the morning visiting my mother and the afternoon shopping, Sunday was the Prospect Part Fleece festival; perfect weather, perfectly pleasant pastimes.

Here are a few pictures I promised to post:

What do I get out of this? I always try I always miss

Odds and ends today - I decided I am not going to MS&W this year - boo hoo - My car is in desperate need of a new muffler and my inspection and registration are up in June, so what money I had saved up really needs to be spent on the Hyundai from Hell.

That is not to say I won't be buying anymore yarn, in fact I am preparing to scors some Kid Silk Crack on Tuesday - I am meeting a new Account Manager at our downtown branch which is on Varick St, a stones throw from Sullivan, so I plan on stopping at Purl and picking up 6 skeins of Liqueur for this:

Though I think I will call her 'likker'd up granny' in deference to my color choice.
There is a KAL starting here

I also ordered some yarn from Marie at Brooklyn Handspun and I ordered something - I can't remember what - from Red Bird Knits . I can't wait to see what it is, I know it will be gorgeous, all her yarn is, I just wish I wasn't having another brain cramp.

I started my first project from Big Girl Knits (not sure I love that title):
Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting
in a soft gold cotton I picked up at Smileys. I'll post pics when there is more to see than 10 rows of seed stitch.

I finished the 2nd cone of black wool/silk for my co-workers shawl. I really like this stitch pattern, it is quick and easy to remember, but looks complicated and quite pretty. I sent her a picture of my progress and she liked it so that is good.

David and Robert are going camping this weekend - Jeff is in trouble for not finishing school work again, so he is home with his mother, hopefully doing some of his homework. I am going out with Marilyn tonight - I think I might stay over there since no one will be home tonight and I no longer like coming home to an empty apartment. Besides we will be drinking and I don't want to be driving when I have had a few or more.

Sunday I will be in Prospect Park for the Annual Sheep Shearing - I volunteer every year at The Yarn Tree - There are spinning, weaving and dying demos and a few of us teach the little ones how to finger crochet. It is always a lot of fun - I look forward to doing it - I think of this as my first Right of Spring. If you are in the area stop in!

Can you hear them - They talk about us

Telling lies - Well that's no surprise

Guess where I am going? The Nokia Theatre, now what did I do with those big plastic earrings and flourescent lace accessories, like oh my god!?? Marilyn and I are going - it's going to be so much fun!

The weather this weekend put a damper on our weekend plans, David and I were going to drive upstate today but with all the rain and damp we just stayed home. Last night we drove to Roosevelt Field, didn't really buy anything but had a good time window shopping - all I picked up was Bead Style Magazine . I spent today making a pair of earrings based on a pair I saw in the mag. I would post some pictures but I left my USB cable at work.

I’ve been looking so long at these pictures of you...that I almost beleive that they’re real

Warning Picture Heavy Post

Today was a good day - the weather was perfect, I didn't lose my cell phone at SnB last night and I got goodies in the mail.

My 3 bosses where in RI the last 3 days and while I had some deadlines early this week - today was slow so I spent the day cleaning up my files and receiving good things by UPS. First this came from the Fruit Store:

The card said it was from my 3 managers - I think they though Admin Prof Day was today instead of next Wed. In the boxes starting from the big one on the bottom, were 3 apples and 3 pears, then cheese and crackers, 6 chocolate chip cookies, and a small box of mixed nuts.

The next thing that arrived was this:
Image hosting by Photobucket I had preordered it from Amazon in February and it finally showed up today! Can I tell you how much I love this book - finally sweaters I want to knit and I don't have to figure out how to upsize the ones I love like this:

and this:

and this one:

oh, and this one:

not to mention - this:

and I haven't even gotten to the accessories yet!

I also ordered this:
http://neoknits.blogspot.com/2006/03/its-ready.html - A granny smith cardigan that I love soooo much more than the one in Knitty - all I need are 6 skeins of Crack Silk Haze and I am all set!

And this weekend I picked up these patterns:
Image hosting by Photobucket David bought me a sewing machine a few years ago and the only thing I have used it for is to sew patches on the boys Scout uniforms.

This is the stole I have been working on for my co-worker - I like the way it is coming out and it is very easy to work on while drinking coffee and talking on Tuesday nights:

...if I could be sure the head on the door was a dream....

I am finally feeling human again - my doctor said I had a bad case of the "ickies" - 2 prescriptions and $75 later I started to feel better. I LOVE that cough syrup w/codeine. I slept for about 3 straight days - it was lovely - deep sleep with no dreams - usually when I am sick I have strange dreams, I once dreamt I was having a rather heated conversation with the Walrus from Alice in Wonderland. To this day I swear he was at the foot of my bed giving me a hard time about oysters.

Once I regained conscienceness I was able to finish A Good Bias, see:

I just cast on for a shawl for a co-worker - she asked me at a weak moment and I agreed to knit one for her. It is a straight stole in trellis lace - the yarn though is wonderful - she picked the heavier wt Zypher - it is a pleasure to knit with, the silk gives it a lovely sheen. I think it will be quite beautiful when it is done.

I am trying to decide what I want to cast on for me - I have so many projects I want to knit, I can't decide what I want to do first. I think the feather and fan shawl will probably win out. I love that yarn I received from my SP and have been itching to work with it!

I am very late sending out my final SP7 package - March just flew by, what with my mother, FLA and then the ickies - it was over before I realized it. I will be sending out my reveal pkg tomorrow. I really hope my SP likes everything, I feel really bad about being so late ending it out.

I am planning on going to the LIC knit group tomorrow after work - I really enjoyed it the last time I went and I really want to make it a regular happening.

I'm back, back in a NY Groove....

Well, not exactly. The only souvenir I brought back from FLA was a head/chest cold, which has currently progressed to laryngitis and a hacking cough, so I am not it any kind of groove at all.

I wanted to thank everyone for their kind thoughts for my mother - she is back in the nursing home and the pacemaker is working perfectly - she is just tired and weak from the ordeal - I've only been to see her once since I came home because I am afraid in her weakened state I will give her pneumonia.

Florida was great, but COLD - I froze my a$% off, plus it really was a business trip - I worked the whole time and mostly on my feet, so I was one exhausted camper when I got home Sunday night. Monday I woke with this cold and have been feeling miserable ever since.

I am behind on all my projects and really need to spend some quality time with my fiber and needles. I have 5 more repeats and the A Good Bias is finished. I want that done soon, so I can wear it. Then I want to start something summery, in cotton and lace. Don't know what yet but something.

Time to get back to work, as long as my phone doesn't ring - I will be fine.....

AWOL

This has been a really stressful weekend - On Friday the nursing home called - they had sent my mother to the hospital. Her heart rate was very low and they wanted to monitor it. She was there in the Emergency room for hours, they finally got her into a room, but her heart rate did not regulate so they moved her to MICU and scheduled her for a pacemaker which she received today. According to her doctor if everythings goes well and her heartrate stabilizes they will release her back to the nursing home.

If that is the case, then I leave for FLA Wednesday morning and while I will have my computer and will be checking my email, I doubt I will have time to post. I have to tell you I am so tired - I can barely keep my eyes open. I didn't sleep well last night and was up really early so I could head over to the hospital this morning, I was dozing as I was sitting in my mothers room. I was so out of it I dented my car today in the parking lot of Stop and Shop cause I misjudged the space between the column and my car. I am going to watch the rest of the Ranger game and crawl into bed.

Good night.....

For Sale

My brother called to tell me that his sofa and love seat will not fit in his new apt and did I know anyone who was interested in buying them. I told him I would ask around. Soooo - if anyone out there is looking for a sofa and loveseat in a green/rust pattern this is your lucky day - he will take your best offer all you have to do is pick it up this month in Ridgewood, NY. If anyone out there is interested email me at miracole AT yahoo DOT com. I will try to get a picture of the set posted soon - the 2 side tables and the tv entertainment center are possible sales items too.

Thanks!

I saw the world thrashing all around your face.....

Never really knowing it was always mesh and lace:

Image hosting by Photobucket Image hosting by Photobucket

Yes it has been very long since my last post - I have been very busy at work and haven't finished any knit or crochet projects, though I have made some more jewelry. My Romantic Cardi is almost done - I need one more skein to finish the sleeve trim and it will be done.

The first picture is the thread crochet cardi which is coming along really well - its slow but steady work. I have been taking it with me when I visit my mother at the nursing home, she likes to watch me crochet and it helps pass the time when she doesn't feel like talking. The second picture is the first sleeve and my progress on the second sleeve of A Good Bias. I should have this finished before spring.

I am looking forward to my FLA trip in 2 weeks, I have been shopping a lot for this trip. Thursday night is a formal award dinner - I found this dress for sale on line:

Image hosting by Photobucket - I am making this stole to wear with it:
Image hosting by Photobucket I am using some olive chenille I have in my stash - the dress has a very low back so I really need some cover.

We had a meeting at Chelsea Piers yesterday and today - this was the first time I have bee there - wow - I remember when there was nothing there that anyone would want to go to. It was a great place for a meeting and the team building activities where fun. The only thing I didn't do was the rock climbing - I really wanted to but there was not way I was going to squeeze into that harness and hang there with my co-workers staring at my butt! Once I lose enough weight I am definitely going to try that, it looked like a lot of fun.

Tomorrow we are taking the boys to Dave and Busters to celebrate their birthday since we didn't do anything last month. Sunday I am going to lunch with my girlfriends, that will be fun we haven't gotten together in a while. I also need to buy a new pair of jeans for my trip too - I'll try to do that this weekend too.

Well, David is telling me it is bedtime so I will log off now - Just want to say hi to Miss Sterious - I got both your postcards today - they are so cool! Annapurna is the Goddess I most identify with - food and cooking are very important to me.
